DNC and Data Disclosure
What data we provide, where it comes from, and what our do-not-call tags do and do not mean.
Effective: November 3, 2026 | Last updated: November 3, 2026 | Print
- Our lead and skip tracing data comes from public records and licensed data providers.
- A do-not-call tag is informational and can be incomplete or out of date.
- You must run your own do-not-call and consent checks before you contact anyone.
- The data is for your own surplus funds business only.
1. Purpose of This Document
This document explains what data Surplus Fortune provides, where it comes from, what our do-not-call (DNC) tags and other flags mean and do not mean, and what you must do before you use the data. It supports our Acceptable Use Policy, Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
2. What Data We Provide
Depending on your plan, we may provide surplus funds lead data such as the property, sale type and date, case or parcel details, the estimated surplus, and the former owner’s name, together with skip tracing results such as phone numbers, email addresses and mailing addresses.
3. Where the Data Comes From
Lead data is compiled from public records, such as county, court, trustee and tax-sale records. Skip tracing results come from public sources and licensed third-party data providers. We do not generate contact details ourselves and we do not guarantee that any record is complete or current.
4. What a Do-Not-Call Tag Means
Where available, we tag phone numbers that appear on do-not-call lists we check, such as the National Do Not Call Registry. A tag is a convenience, not a legal determination. Please keep the following in mind:
- A tag reflects the information available when the check was made. Lists change often, so a number can be added or removed afterward.
- An absent tag does not mean a number is safe to call. Not every list or number can be checked, and state lists and a business’s own internal list may not be included.
- A tag does not tell you whether you have consent or another lawful basis to contact someone.
5. Your Obligations Before You Contact Anyone
- Check each number against the National Do Not Call Registry, the state lists that apply, and your own internal do-not-call list, as the law requires, before calling.
- Decide whether you have a lawful basis to contact the person on that channel. Calls to a number on a do-not-call list are only permitted where the law provides an exception, and that is for you and your attorney to determine.
- Respect calling-time rules and honor opt-out requests promptly.
- Follow the surplus funds recovery rules of the state and county involved.
If you use our cold calling services, these obligations remain yours. See Section 6 of the Acceptable Use Policy.
6. Accuracy and Limits
The data is provided as is. Public records can contain errors, and contact details can be wrong, outdated or reassigned. Estimated surplus amounts are estimates and may change or be disputed. Verify important details with the court or county before relying on them.
7. Permitted and Prohibited Use
Use the data only for your own surplus funds recovery business, within your plan and team size. You may not resell it, build a database from it, scrape it, use it to train AI models, or use it as a consumer report or to decide eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or tenancy. Data from sources covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act or the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act may be used only for permitted purposes. See Section 7 of the Acceptable Use Policy.
8. Removal and Opt-Out Requests
If you are a person named in our data and want your information reviewed or removed, or you are a customer who received a do-not-contact request, email support@surplusfortune.com with the name and number or address concerned. We review requests and act on them as the law requires. Please note that data already in a customer’s possession is outside our control, and customers are responsible for honoring opt-outs.
9. Changes
We may update this document from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows the latest version.
